A blast from the past.

Five-year-old Ryder Goggin was enjoying a walk on the beach in Mendocino, California, with his mum, Heather, when he came across a bottle hidden in the sand, back in 2016.

Written on the bottle lid was ‘Original New York Seltzer’ - a company that went out of business over 20 years ago.

Talking to Inside Edition, Ryder's mum said that she was "shocked" when she opened up the bottle and found a little plastic bag containing a handwritten note.

“It was perfect inside. Totally dry," Heather said when talking about the contents of the bottle.

So what did the note say?

“Hi my name is Chris. I am 10-years-old and in the 5th grade. I live in Sacramento. Call me when you find this to let me know where it floated to shore.”

The date written on the note was September 5th 1988.

The little boy had written a number at the bottom of the paper to call, but, unfortunately, the number has been cut off.

Talking to the publication, Ryder’s mum said that she would love to know where life took Chris, and “the circumstances behind him putting the bottle in the water.”

Have you ever sent a message in a bottle out to sea?
