Mum-of-two Chrissy took to Facebook recently, after she noticed a woman wearing fancy clothes while dropping her boys to school.
The first thing Chrissy, who has two sons – Greyson and Parker - on the autism spectrum, noticed was how this other mum was dressed.
“She had on fancy clothes, aka - not black stretchy pants covered in dog hair and a top knot bun in her hair,” the blogger wrote on Facebook.
However, Chrissy wasn’t there to compare her own “black stretchy trousers” with this mum’s chic look, nor was she there to shame the mum for working a nine-to-five.
No, Chrissy took the opportunity to call this mum “remarkable” and to thank all working mums for “serving others so graciously”.
The mum-of-two wrote: “Look at you, momma, I thought. I'm so impressed with you. I'm sure you don't hear it enough, but you are remarkable.
“I'm sure like me, you feel like you are never ever doing enough. I even feel like that, and I don't leave my house for a 9-5 job.
“I don't know you, but I'm proud of you. I hear from my working friend mommas how much guilt they feel. I wish I could simply erase it away.”
“No one does all the things. It doesn't matter that you can't volunteer in your child's classroom or go on all the field trips or make a home cooked meal every night. (I don't do those things either).
“What matters is how good you love. Simply because of that - you are winning.”
Highlighting the important role that mums who work play, Chrissy wrote: “Many of our support staff, teachers and therapists are working moms.
“We simply could not survive without you in our lives. Thank you for serving others so graciously.
“If you focus on what you aren't, or what you can't do- you are missing out on the most important essence of WHO you are and what you DO teach your child.
“You know multi-tasking like no other. You teach them grit when life isn't perfect or easy.
“You teach them that anyone can and should be whatever they want in life when they grow up. Maybe you want to work. Maybe you have to.
“Either way- you are remarkable, and I just thought you should know.”
