A mum has issued a stark warning about the dangers of mobile phone chargers, following a frightening incident involving her young daughter.

Courtney N Davis took to Facebook to share her story, after her 19-month-old was left with severe burns – from ‘sticking her phone charger in her mouth’.

Posting a series of photos of her daughter’s nasty injuries, the US mum revealed that the incident occurred on September 28.

While Courtney initially just posted the warning in a ‘mum group’, she decided to spread it more publicly after realising that ‘many parents don’t think twice about the danger of a phone charger’.

After discovering a white blistered area at the side of her daughter’s mouth, Courtney brought her little one to the doctor.

“[They] confirmed that it was an electrical burn. There was nothing they could put on it, due to her being able to lick it,” she explained.

Courtney usually would never leave her phone charger lying around; and, as we have all learned at some point, it was the one day that she didn’t store it away that the accident happened.

“Any other day, my charger wouldn’t have been plugged up in her reach; but because of a bunch of stuff going on that day I didn’t have time to move it,” she wrote.

“It took all of a few seconds for her to get burned. She had never tried to put it in her mouth, and she had never messed with it.

“The one day it isn’t moved, she stuck it in her mouth and got a severe burn. She doesn’t feel it; thank God hasn’t acted like it bothers her at all.”

Courtney went on to share a series of photos of the injury as it worsened over the course of a week.

She went on to urge parents, grandparents, babysitters and others to ‘please put your chargers up out of reach’.

“My daughter was lucky – the next kid may not be as lucky as her,” she warned.

Thank heavens Courtney’s little one is OK now. This is a very important message that bears repeating.
