Certain stories of suspension or punishment over breaking uniform codes or having an unusual haircut have often split opinion, but we wonder what you will make of this strange story that has come from the States.

A nine-year-old boy from Texas was reportedly suspended from school after threatening to make another child disappear with a ‘magic’ ring he had brought to class.

According to the boy’s father, Jason Steward, the family had been to see The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies the weekend previous to the incident.

As followers of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings franchises will know, both series centre on an evil magic ring that can make the wearer disappear.

Apparently, the little boy brought his own version of a magic ring to school and threatened to make his classmate disappear – a threat which school authorities took very seriously.

Mr Steward told The Daily News that Kermit Elementary School’s principal told the little boy that threats to another child’s safety would not be tolerated, whether magic or not, and he was then suspended over the incident.

The boy, who has attended the school since last August, has reportedly already been in two suspension-related incidents.
