Parents, whose children attend a primary school in Manchester, have been left shocked after it was revealed that a 13-year-old boy was 'mistakenly placed' in the class of 9 and ten-year-olds.

Following a complaint against the teen which alleged 'inappropriate behaviour', a police enquiry has been launched.

Commenting on the subject, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "On 17th March 2015, Greater Manchester Police received a report of inappropriate behaviour via social media in relation to the actions of a 13-year-old boy."

According to reports, the teen was involved in an online exchange with a primary-aged girl in which he encouraged the child to take and send explicit photos.

While Manchester council have acknowledged that older children were 'on rare occasions' admitted to younger classes, they have yet to disclose the reasons behind this teen's presence in the Year 5 class.

Commenting on the controversy, one horrified parent said: "How can something like this happen? How can a kid of that age end up at a primary school? I am sure if other parents realised their ten-year-old child was getting changed in the same room as a boy who is actually 12 or 13, they would be upset."

The teen has since been removed from the class and according to a GMP spokesman, police enquiries into the matter are ongoing.
