When Siti Nuryaningsih and Juarnes Prana Dinata found out they were expecting triplets, they were surprised and delighted – but they could not have imagined what they were to find when they finally welcomed their beloved daughters.

Doctors at Tanjungpinang Regional Hospital, Indonesia delivered their little girls in January, via Caesarean-section – only to discover that two of them were conjoined twins.

Little Nadira and Nadiba Alifa Putri share the same skull but have separate brains. The tots are currently awaiting what has been described as a ‘landmark’ surgery to separate their bodies and allow them to live physically independently of one another.

Opening up about the importance of the surgery, mum Siti told local media: “We think attempting a separation surgery is a step that needs to be taken. When one sleeps, the other one wants to play, so their sense of doing things is really messed up.”

While Siti and Juarnes are keen for the separation surgery to take place as soon as possible, doctors at the hospital want to wait until the babies have reached a ‘minimal’ weight of 10 kilograms/ 22 pounds.

We’re wishing the family all the best with the surgery.

SHARE with a fellow mum who will be amazed by the story of these triplets.
