If a student acts up in the classroom, the general protocol is that they will receive an appropriate punishment. However, the parents of students at a Washington DC elementary school have been left outraged by the ‘cruel’ lesson their kids were taught this week.

Video footage of a group of children on their hands and knees scrubbing their school’s cafeteria floors has been leaked to the public, and has upset parents in the local community.

It is reported that the punishment was ordered following a food fight between third-graders, who would typically be aged eight or nine years old.

Parents of the kids involved have spoken out to express their outrage over the footage, and also to condemn the teacher who dished out the punishment.

Some of the parents have even claimed that the same teacher hit and pinched some of the students, even going so far as to deny them lunch and then bribe them with pizza and ice cream in a bid to keep them from telling their parents.

Speaking to local media, one parent said: “How would you feel if someone did this to your child?”

According to reports this weekend, no one has been charged as of yet, but the local school district has vowed to investigate the allegations.
