Have you ever encountered problems trying to get your child to sleep? If the answer is yes (and we imagine that is the case for many of you), then the findings of a new poll may be of interest to you.

BT carried out a study to find which lullaby parents find most effective in getting their little one to sleep, and the results proved very interesting.

It was the stunning classic Moon River, made famous by actress Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s that claimed the top spot, in a survey carried out across 2,000 mums and dads.

Given how iconic Moon River is, we’re not surprised to hear it pops into so many parents’ minds when they’re trying to get their baby to sleep, but there were also some rather surprising additions to the list.

The top five was completed by There Must Be An Angel by Eurythmics, Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice, My Way by Frank Sinatra, and Islands in the Stream by Dolly Parton.

Now, be honest – how many of you have rapped Ice Ice Baby to your little one?!

The remainder of the top 10 showed a real mix in modern songs and old classics, with Sing by Ed Sheeran, Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns ‘N’ Roses, Timber by Pitbull feat. Kesha, Groovy Kind of Love by Phil Collins, and Stay With Me by Sam Smith taking up the final spots, respectively.

As we know well, our little ones can be inspired by everything from jingles to adverts, and that came through in the survey; while a quarter of mums admitted to singing songs from TV ads, 15% of dads said they prefer singing songs from movies to get their little ones to nod off.

Will you be trying out any of these with your little one tonight?
