It was recently reported that several schools around the country would be banning parents from dropping their kids off at their gates, but a number of schools have taken things a step further in the interest of safety.

According to reports, three schools in the Midland area are set to participate in a trial scheme to ban traffic from their surrounding streets during school hours.

A report in the Birmingham Mail claims that the scheme will roll out in September 2017 for two years and has been launched to prevent parents from parking illegally, on double-yellow lines, when dropping off and collecting their kids.

The scheme will see the installation of exclusion zones around the three schools in the Solihull area, and parking will be banned in the relevant areas between 8-9am and 2.30-3.30pm each weekday. If successful, it is believed that the scheme could be rolled out in other areas across the country.

If early reports are anything to go by, parents will not be happy to see the launch of the scheme, with many already complaining that it is a major source of inconvenience and even financial strain as they seek to organise alternative parking plans.
