Earlier this morning, we reported on the bizarre ‘Charlie Charlie Challenge’ that has been doing the rounds on social media, and now authorities have issued a warning on a highly dangerous new ‘trend’.

A number of schools have expressed their concern over what has been dubbed the ‘Paracetamol Challenge’, a dangerous ‘game’ which sees young people encouraging others to abuse painkillers.

This shocking new craze has reportedly been playing out across social media, with users challenging others to effectively overdose on over-the-counter medication.

One of the first reports of the game came after a teenager from Ayrshire, Scotland, was rushed to hospital after taking part.

Now, police and schools have begun circulating warnings to parents and young people alike, emphasising just how dangerous this new trend is.

Alan Ward, the head of schools at East Ayrshire Council, told local newspaper The Scotsman: “We are urging parents to talk to their children about the potential dangers of taking paracetamol and to discourage their children from engaging in any online activity in support of this dangerous craze.”

It is so important to be aware of these shocking new trends. It just goes to emphasise why we need to regulate online and social media activity, in particular.
