Photos to take when your little one returns to school this September

While you are guaranteed to take a few pictures on their first day of school, it’s the subsequent years that never get documented.

Still a special and important day for each and every child, why not start a tradition with one or all of these must-have back-to-school snaps.

1. Walking out the front door

Watch the front door become smaller as your kids get taller; a great way to document them growing and changing over the years.

2. Family photos at the same spot each year

Instead of just documenting your kids, why not do it as a family – looking back over the photos in a few years time you will really see the changes that have taken place with all of you.

3. Candid photos of them getting ready

While posed photos are good try to get a collection of candid snaps of them getting ready - tying their laces or brushing their hair. If you can, try to get it when they aren’t looking for a more natural shot.

4. The first day back with their friends

The best thing about school is the friends you make; make sure you capture this moment every single year.

5. Holding the books of their favourite subjects

We all had a favourite subject in school, although for a lot of us this changed with every new term! Cherish the topics your little one loved by snapping them with their books in their arms.

6. Meeting their new teacher

First impressions are always the most important, but when it goes by in a blur it is easy to forget how your little one felt meeting their new teacher.

7. Picture of them standing outside their classroom

If they aren’t keen on standing beside their new teacher for a photo, why not take a picture of them outside the classroom door underneath their teacher’s name - the perfect way to create a new memory.
