There have often been times when we were late to pick up our kids from school.
We feel awful but we get there, we have never forgotten for longer than a minute, but sometimes we can forget that this isn't always the case.
One young boy was left outside his elementary school recently, when an adult failed to pick him up at the end of the day.
His guardian who was due to pick the young boy up was incarcerated, and he was left standing alone on his birthday of all days.
Unfortunately, there were no other family contacts available at the time, which meant the police were called for assistance.
Nonetheless, when police officer, Darryl Robinson, arrived to bring the youngster home, he realised it was the child's birthday.
According to Green Bay Police Department: "Officer Robinson took the boy for a meal at McDonald's and a ride around in the police car for his birthday."
"Family was eventually located and the child was dropped off. Thank you to community partners, like McDonald's, that allow us to help out others in small ways during our interactions throughout the shifts."
The department also took the time to thank Officer Robinson for taking the time to celebrate the youngster's big day: "We are proud to have [you] as part of the GBPD team!"
Well done to Officer Robinson for thinking of the young boy first, every child deserves to celebrate their birthday.
