It has certainly been a rollercoaster of a month for reality star Ferne McCann. In the same week that her then-boyfriend Arthur Collins was arrested for his involvement in a London club acid attack; it emerged that she was expecting their child.

This morning, the former TOWIE and I’m A Celebrity…star made her first TV appearance since the news broke – and it was emotional, to say the least.

Appearing on ITV’s This Morning, where she is a regular contributor, 26-year-old Ferne couldn’t hold back the tears as she discussed her journey so far with hosts Holly and Phil.

“Sorry, I’m going to try and be really strong. I really don’t want to cry,” she said, as the tears began to flow.

“I think, ‘Are the public going to judge me and have an opinion about it?’” she said, before admitting that she has been overwhelmed by the well wishes she has received so far.

Ferne – who is 12 weeks along already – told Holly and Phil that she has been experiencing all the typical symptoms so far, from nausea and headaches to sickness.

As for her now highly-publicised situation, Ferne – who had to be comforted by Holly, at one point during the interview – said she is trying to stay positive and take hope from impending motherhood.

“I’m actually feeling good and positive because being pregnant has given me strength and hope to get through it,” she said.

“This isn’t how I imagined my first pregnancy to be, but it’s not about me or what happened. My main concern and priority is the baby.”

Ferne’s pregnancy news was confirmed to OK! magazine, right in the aftermath of Collins’ arrest. Her representative captured the range of emotions that the reality star was going through at the time.

“Ferne is grateful for the sympathetic way news of her pregnancy has been covered and people’s support, and obviously her first concern is for her child’s health,” her spokesperson told the publication.

“Accordingly, she does not wish to discuss the pregnancy further, given the early stage it is and the immense strain that Ferne is currently under.

“Ferne is in no way seeking sympathy for her situation and is determined to do all she can to have a happy and healthy child, and face the challenges of being a single parent with all her energy.”

We’re wishing Ferne all the best with her pregnancy journey.
