A school aide in Brookyln, New York, has been arrested for punching an 11-year-old autistic boy.

58-year-old, Milton Parker, a school aide at Public School 225 in the city, has been charged with felony assault, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment, amongst other charges.

He was arrested after police viewed footage of the incident which occurred in the school cafeteria after 11-year-old Anatoly Jr. was asked to clean up a water spill, but did not, prompting Parker’s assault upon him.

Anatoly Jr’s father spoke about the incident, saying: “The police told me Mr. Parker said my son said ‘something racial’ to him ... I spoke to my son and all he could say was he told [Parker] to ‘keep your hands to yourself’.”

His father also spoke of his horror at the incident: “Children in the care of these paraprofessionals should be protected 110 per cent. I could never imagine in my worst dreams that this could happen.”

Young Anatoly was later treated at hospital for bruising on his face as well as a possible concussion.
