A school bus driver has resigned after 'snapping', and abandoning a bus full of children on a rural road.

The unnamed driver was bringing home children from Barrow Elementary School in West Columbia, Texas, when she slammed on the brakes and walked off the bus, leaving dozens of children stranded and alone.

Sources have since revealed that the driver, who had been on the route for about two years, already had multiple complaints lodged against her.

One child recalled the incident, telling KHOU 11 News: “She was driving and she slammed on the brakes really hard, and she unbuckled her seatbelt and she was like, ‘I’m done’, and she just walked off the bus.”

A number of the 53 children on board the bus were left frightened and upset by the incident, with some even becoming ill.

The pupil added: “Madlyne has, like, throw up going all down her side. Stuy was, like, shaking his butt off. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, they’re going to have a heart attack.’”

Director of human resources for the school’s district commented on the driver’s bizarre actions, saying: “She felt like the kids were too rowdy and she couldn’t handle it.”

After the shocking incident came to light, the driver was placed on administrative leave by the school, but she has since resigned from her post.

In light of recent frightening stories about child cruelty in the classroom, this raises further concerns about our children’s safety at school.
