School calendar and holidays 2015/2016

Each year, schools provide a list of dates that they will be closed throughout the year. Knowing when the kids are off is important, particularly if you have to organise childcare in advance, so make sure you bookmark this article. 

 

While schools will provide their own detailed list of closures, here we have outlined a general list of term-times and holidays. 

 

England and Wales

 

September:

Wednesday, 2^nd   

School reopens after the summer holidays.

 

October:

Monday, 26^th –  Friday, 30^th

Schools closed for Halloween.

 

 December:

Friday, 18^th  

Schools close for Christmas holidays.

 

January:

Monday, 4^th

Schools reopen after Christmas holidays.

 

February:

Monday, 15^th and Friday, 19^th

Schools close for mid-term. This is subject to individual schools.

 

April:

Monday, 4^th – Friday, 15^th

Schools close for Easter

 

May:

Monday, 30^th – Friday, 3^rd June

Schools close for May Bank Holiday. 

 

July:  

Monday, 25^th July   

Schools close for summer.

 

Scotland

 

August:

Monday, 17^th   

Schools reopen after the summer holidays.

 

September:

Monday, 21^st

Schools close for autumn holiday.

 

October:

Monday, 12^th – Monday, 19^th

Schools close for mid-term break.

 

December:

Wednesday, 23^rd   

Schools close for Christmas holidays.

 

January:

Thursday, 7^th

Schools reopen after Christmas holidays.

 

February:

Monday, 15^th - Friday, 19^th

Schools close for mid-term. 

 

March:

Friday, 25^th – Friday, 8^th April

Schools closed for Easter holidays.

 

April:

Monday, 18^th

Schools close for spring holiday

 

May:

Monday, 2^nd

Schools close for May day.

 

Thursday, 5^th

Schools close for Scottish Parliament election.

 

Monday, 23^rd

Schools close for Victoria Day.

 

June:

Thursday, 30^th

Schools close for summer.
