Seven-year-old Joel is autistic, so going outside or even holding his mother’s hand can be a real challenge for him.

However, that has all changed since Joel met his new best friend – Caddie.

Caddie is a golden Labrador who has brought an abundance of excitement into Joel’s home.

And the two are just adorable together.

Joel said: “I find everything hard, but Caddie keeps me calm and keeps me safe.”

Caddie, who was adopted from Dogs for Good, helps Joel feel more relaxed, with the boy even venturing outside to play fetch with his new pal.

Mum Janet shared with Love What Matters: “The first day we met Caddie was just amazing. Joel agreed to go outside into the garden, something he’d refused to do for months.”

Adding: “My husband Kevin broke down in tears when he saw it; we both knew Caddie was going to transform our lives.”

Finding his new best friend has been life changing for Joel, he has conquered a world of ‘firsts’, from going into a cafe, ordering his own drinks, and even voluntarily opening his mouth at the dentist.

Caddie is so protective of Joel that when the young boy feels anxious, Caddie will rest his head on Joel or lie on him, reassuring his friend everything is just fine.

Janet added: "We’re all excited to see Joel’s next new achievement with Caddie by his side.”

These guys are going to have a chunk of adventures, it's one friendship we couldn’t but share with you.
