For many, a teacher’s number one priority is educating the children in her class. But for one primary school teacher, nurturing the kids is just as important.

And she showed just how much she cares about the children in the sweetest way possible.

Last year, Kyle Schwartz from Denver in the States gave her students an opportunity to use their voice by creating a note-worthy activity in her classroom, which she turned into a series on Twitter under the hashtag #IWishMyTeacherKnew.

Since then, the hashtag has taken the Internet by storm and teachers all over the world are participating in Schwartz's exercise with their own students.

The third grade teacher told ABC News last year: “As a new teacher, I struggled to understand the reality of my students’ lives and how to best support them.”
“I just felt like there was something I didn’t know about my students.”

She began the activity with the aim of building trust and getting to know the kids on another level, giving them the chance to submit the notes anonymously if they wanted, but most were happy to sign their names to the notes – some even read them out aloud.

Schwartz was hoping that the series would inspire other teachers to get to know their students better – and to help students and their families get connected with the resources they may need at home.

It’s been slowly coming to fruition, too, with many teachers taking to Twitter with their own students’ notes.

Here are more of the notes Schwart’s students – and students from around the world – have written:

Sometimes they need time, not stuff...

And sometimes, they just need the basics...

Other times, the problem is one that might never change...

Sometimes communication issues arise...

Sadly for some kids, the problem is having nobody to communicate with...
