It's tempting to think of your childhood as a time when everything was simple and stress-free.

But that’s not necessarily the case, and this teenage girl’s childhood diary is proof of that.

Madie Cardon (16) from Utah was recently going through her room when she stumbled upon a diary from when she was just seven years old.

And boy is it angsty!

At first, the story is a simple love triangle. Here is the opener (spelling mistakes are not ours):

“Today at school, my crush Riley was chasing other girls on the playground! I thout he liked me. And guess who he was chasing! Jessica! She is such a player! She hugs at least 5 boys every day! I am so mad at her. I think I will tell riley her secret. She wears pull ups! After he finds out he won’t like her anymore.”

It seems Madie found it in her heart to keep her rival’s secret, but the next day – February 14th – things only got worse for the heartbroken tot.

“My depression is getting strong,” she wrote. “Today is Valentine’s Day. I made Riley a Valentine. Me and Katelyn stayed up all night makin it.”

“Before Riley got to school, I put it in his desk. When he got to school, he looked in his desk he found my box. I wrote anonymous on it so he wouldn’t know it was from me. Right when he looked at it, he threw it away. I am still crying. I have depression.”

The day after, Madie posted her final entry on the subject, and it’s clear that her sadness has taken a violent turn.

“Worst day ever,” she wrote. “Riley told me he likes Jessica. I am done with boys. I want to kill all of them.”

While the experience caused Madie great pain, the adorable diary entry has gone down a storm online. Since Madie uploaded the images to Twitter on Monday, it has been retweeted over 12,000 times and shared all around the world.

Although she’s well over it now, teen Madie says she has a pretty clear memory of planning her revenge against ‘player’ Jessica.

“I just remember having meetings with my friends after school on how to get revenge on Jessica, and on Valentine’s Day, I remember just going home and bawling,” she told Buzzfeed.

So there you have it. Love hurts – even when you’re seven. You can read the full diary entry on Twitter below.
