A teenage boy who stabbed his supply teacher following a dispute over a mobile phone has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

The 14-year-old youth, who is understood to have planned the attack against Victor Uzomah, subsequently boasted about the crime on social media, posting a Facebook status which read: "The m*********** gettin funny so I stick the blade straight in his tummy" (sic)

Disgusted by the defendant's action, the presiding judge said: "You went to your school armed with a knife intending to stab your teacher. You boasted about it before, you boasted about it after, when you had stabbed him."

Speaking outside Bradford Crown Court today, Mr. Uzomah displayed incredible poise and dignity as he said: "As a Christian I have forgiven this boy who has inflicted this trauma and pain onto me and my family."

Acknowledging the importance of the justice system, the science teacher continued by saying: "It was, however, important for the law to run its course and for a strong message to be sent out ... violence is never acceptable."

Attempting to seek a positive from the shocking situation, Mr Uzomah made his feelings for his attacker clear by hoping he would emerge from his sentence a changed person and ultimately make a 'positive contribution' to society.

Dubbing the defendant an "out of control, arrogant, antisocial bully, disrespectful of authority", the judge sentenced the youth to 11 years behind bars.
