Isn't she just the cutest dental nurse you've ever seen?

Six-year-old golden retriever Jo Jo is a trained comfort dog, and she's got plenty of experience. She was one of the first responders to comfort students at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.

Now, she has turned her attention to the dental world - a place that terrifies many of us, especially little kids.

For the past couple of years, she has worked a regular weekly shift as a dental nurse at the Pediatric Dentistry of Northbrook office in Illinois.

She's an important member of the team at Dr Paul Egger and Dr Thomas Resnick's practise. In fact, she's even listed as a member of staff on the dentist's website.

Jo Jo's handler Lynne Ryan of Illinois came up with the idea, convinced the dog would make a big difference for young patients going through tough treatments.

"I've been working as a handler for five years, and I thought Jo Jo could really do some good here," Lynne told local Illinois paper, the Daily Herald.

"Jo Jo had to be trained to get used to all the different noises in a dental office, like the sound of the drill and the suction," she explains.

"But now, she gets up on the chair and reclines on children’s laps."
