Like many little boys, five-year-old Travis is fascinated by the police and wants to enforce the law when he grows up.

So he was delighted when, out and about in his toy police-car, a real policeman pulled him over for a chat.

On their Facebook page, the Grand Rapids Police Department shared the gracious letter they received from Travis's delighted mum.

In the post, she said that Officer Ickes kindly stopped to interact with her boy after seeing the miniature police car he was riding around in.

Naturally, young Travis took the opportunity to show off his wheels to Officer Ickes.

"Just when we thought Officer Ickes had moved on to his next task, he came around the corner in his car and asked my son if he wanted to check HIS car out," she wrote.

Travis was over the moon as he sat in the front seat of the real police car. He even received a police badge sticker, which he proudly sported in a bunch of adorable photos with his new policeman friend.

The little boy dreams of becoming a policeman one day, so the entire interaction truly made his day.

"I wanted you to know how much this extra ten minutes of time meant to my son, and to my husband and I," she wrote.

"His happiness is what we strive for. Thank you, and a huge thank you to Officer Ickes. Our community needs more like him."
