Tough journey: Rebecca Adlington opens up about suffering from panic attacks

Suffering with anxiety is no joking matter and experiencing panic attacks is not pleasant.

And Rebecca Adlington has gotten candid about how panic attacks have affected her.

The 30-year-old called him the ''kindest man with the biggest heart”.

She said, ''It’s going to be a tough journey. The panic attacks have always been there. But I have had them more recently.''

Her grandad, Gordon, took her to training every week so they were particularly close.

Rebecca, who is mum to three-year-old Summer, has weekly sessions of mindfulness and guided imagery.

She said, ''My family are brilliant, but it’s good to talk to somebody neutral. We all need to admit sometimes we need help.”

Never a truer word spoken - well done Rebecca for being so brave and speaking out.
