There is no definite cure for blepharitis but careful treatment can reduce the symptoms and prevent it from getting worse. Your doctor may recommend warm, wet compresses ( a clean facecloth soaked in warm water), antibiotic drops or ointment, and a daily lid washing routine. Washing the lid with warm water, a saline solution, or a mild baby shampoo will reduce the amount of bacteria and remove dead skin cells. This will allow the pores to stay open and allow the area to heal.

You should also teach your child not to rub his eyes as this will aggravate his condition and can cause flare ups.

Even with careful treatment and the practice of good eyelid hygiene the condition can reoccur but it is important to keep focused as it will help.
