People with early onset of cataracts will find that changing their glasses prescription, using sunglasses to help alleviate glare, and having better lighting to read can help reduce the symptoms. Many cataracts are not bothersome and in these cases surgery is typically not necessary. However, if vision can’t be improved with new glasses then surgery will be required. Surgery involves removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with a clear, artificial lens. Cataract surgery has a very high success rate in restoring vision, however complications can arise.
