The This Morning showbiz reporter has been parenting his two boys on their own since their mother’s untimely passing six years ago, but admits that it has made him a better parent.
Jeff Brazier, who is father to 11-year-old Freddie and Bobby, who is 12, with the late Jade Goody, has spoken out about how the loss of Jade made him more than “your average dad”.
The 36-year-old, who got full custody of the boys when their mum passed away from cervical cancer, believes he “morphed" into a different type of dad.
”I'm probably far more sensitive to their feelings and I'm far more aware of when they need emotional support. There are little side effects of my situation where you become really good at doing quite a lot on your own,” he explained to the MailOnline.
However, he has admitted that, just like mums and dads all over the country, he loves when the boys go back to school because he really struggles during the holidays.
His mum helps him out at these times but Jeff admits he feels like he is always leaning on people and hates asking for help.
However, Jeff, who is dating Kate Dwyer, won’t be looking at hiring anyone in the near future as the family haven’t had much look in that department.
''We've had au pairs over the years but I haven't had one for the last nine months. We didn't have a good experience last time - she smoked and argued with her boyfriend every day on the phone.''
While the father has previously admitted that it is hard, he does all he can to ensure his two sons never forget their mother’s memory.
''I want the boys to know exactly where they're from. We dedicate the 15th of every month to Jade, and we always do what the boys want to do.”
