We studied Sylvia Plath in school, channelled our inner feminism, and preached for all the world to hear.

But we don't do it often enough, sometimes life takes over and we forget to remind ourselves that we are amazing people.

Every now and then though, we're given a stark reminder of what we are and where we want to be amongst society, and most importantly what we want our children to know.

After a poem was uploaded to Twitter about childhood and the future for one female, we came to learn quite quickly that the piece was penned by none other than an eight-year-old girl.

Yes, she is eight, and she is fierce.

Entitled 'The True Feminine', the poem depicts the eight-year-old's life; what she is, isn't, and what she holds for her future.

"I am not sugar and spice and everything nice. I am music, I am art, I am a story. I am a church bell gonging out wrongs and rights and normal nights."

"I was a baby, I am child, I will be mother. I don't mind being considered beautiful, I do not allow that to be my definition."

The powerful words stare at you from the page, and we can't help but feel every single one as intensely as they are written.

The poem, shared by, Arabelle Sicardi, concludes: "I am a rich pie strong with knowledge, I will not be eaten."

And we have no doubt this girl is going places - this is something we'll be showing our girls.

Can you believe she is just eight-years-old?
