It would seem as though some parents are forking out crazy sums of money each time their kid loses a tooth, as expectations have started to rise.
Gone are the days of a child being content with a small pay-out, with some kids expecting up to £30 per tooth.
In a recent study of 1000 parents conducted by Jack N' Jill Kids, some mums and dads reported giving huge money per tooth (crazy, right?).
According to the study, this is a 289 percent rise on what the parents themselves had received as children.
We dug a little deeper, to try and find out what the going rate for a tooth in Ireland is these days, and were pleasantly surprised by our findings.
Rest easy though, as this number is just the extreme, and most children in the UK are getting no more than £5 per tooth
Then we thought, why give the kids money at all? There are so many fun alternatives to doling out cash for teeth:
Playful toothbrushes
What if a fairy happened to leave a cool tooth brush for someone? We reckon those pearly whites would be cleaned constantly.
Fairy dust
Embrace the magic of the Tooth Fairy by leaving a special jar of glitter for your little one. This is a fantastic and whimsical alternative to leaving cash under a pillow!
A personal letter
Make your child feel really special by leaving a personalised letter from the Tooth Fairy! They will be talking about it for WEEKS.
So, while there are some children out there that expect a huge amount of money per tooth, it is not necessarily a prerequisite.
Get creative, and have fun with it!
