The thoughts of looking through our own bins for anything sends shivers down our spine, never mind an entire town worth of rubbish - but that is exactly what Colleen Dyckman found herself doing one evening.
The woman, from West Babylon, had just finished cooking for the evening when she realised that she was missing two very important items: her wedding rings.
After figuring out that she had accidently put them in the bin with the food scraps, herself and her husband jumped into the car and followed the rubbish truck all the way to the dump.
When she go there, Colleen explained her situation and asked if she could search through the entire town's rubbish before it was incinerated - and they said Ok.
In fact, not only did they let her go through all the trash, they even gave her a hand.
And thanks to one employee, Colleen was reunited with her precious rings.
