She was praised for her candid honesty when she revealed her secret battle with postpartum depression in March, and Chrissy Teigen continued on with that candour in her latest interview.

The 31-year-old, who is mum to one-year-old Luna, discussed her experience with medication during an appearance at Beautycon.

The presenter and foodie touched on everything from her body image hang-ups and beauty secrets, to her motherhood experience.

Chrissy previously revealed that she began taking an anti-depressant after being diagnosed with postpartum depression and anxiety.

When asked if she would prefer not to take medication, she admitted: “Absolutely – but it works for me.”

The star grew visibly emotional as she touched on one of the greatest myths of her illness: that you can’t possibly be depressed if you lead what looks like such an amazing life.

“I have such a great life. There’s no way I could possibly be sad. I have everything I want. But it can happen to anybody,” she said.

“When you’re in that hole, you feel like you’ll never be out of that hole. You can’t even ever imagine being happy again. And I’m very happy again!”

Chrissy came in for great praise back in March, when she first shared the details of her health battle.

Writing an op-ed for Glamour, the Lip Sync Battle star revealed that her experience left her in physical pain and deep confusion.

“I would go two days without a bite of food, and you know how big of a deal food is for me. One thing that really got me, was just how short I was with people. I couldn’t figure out why I was so unhappy,” she admitted.

It was during a medical appointment that Chrissy finally broke down and shared her ordeal, leading to her diagnosis.

She has gone on to share words of encouragement and support to other mums living with the condition.

“Just when you think it’s really, really bad – it’s going to get better. So, hopefully, if you’re going through something tough, you can find some peace in knowing that,” she said, via Refinery29.

Fair play to Chrissy for speaking out – we’re sure she’s helping plenty of other mums going through a difficult time.
