Welsh TV presenter Alex Jones opened up to the Mirror this Sunday about motherhood and how it’s affected her relationship with her Kiwi husband Charlie Thomson.

The 40-year-old The One Show star gave birth to their first child, Edward Alun Burrell (Teddy for short), in January 2017.

Things were hectic leading up to the birth, Alex revealed, as the couple had just moved into their new house.

“It was a week before Teddy arrived,” she said to the Mirror, “We’d renovated it beforehand, but we still haven’t really got any furniture. It’s chaos, but it’s lovely. We’re a lot more centered since Teddy’s come. It’s a slower pace.”

Having a child has definitely changed the Strictly star’s relationship with her husband – for the better!

She explained, “You become a team and it strengthens your relationship. You have to rely on each other, especially because we’re both working. I couldn’t do it without Charlie.”

The mum-of-one also told the Mirror about her and her husband’s WILD weekend plans, saying, “When we’ve done the day and put Teddy to bed, just the two of us having a glass of wine is a weekend treat. I can’t cope with drinking in the week anymore.”

We know how that feels, mums!

Later on, Alex revealed the paranoia she felt at the thought that someone else might pounce on her job while she was on maternity leave.

“When you have a baby in your late 30s to early 40s, you’re at the peak of your career, so taking time off is hard,” she shared, “But as much as I was really excited about having a baby, I was worried about going on maternity, because I love and respect my job and know it’s one a lot of other people would like to do.”

However, her worries ceased thanks to her wonderful co-workers. Alex told the Mirror, “The BBC and my editor are brilliant and made me feel at ease, so it was just my paranoia. [My co-host] Matt Baker popped over often during my maternity leave to see Ted and keep me up to date with what was going on, so it felt easy going back.”

Fame from The One Show has affected Charlie and Alex's relationship as well. Besides becoming her teammate, the hunky Kiwi also sometimes serves as Alex’s photographer when she gets recognized on the street.

The One Show has a really nice viewership," the Welsh beauty noted, "Charlie’s good with using all sorts of mobile phone cameras by this point! He says, 'Shall I take the picture?'”

What a helpful partner!

The couple also hasn't ruled out more children, Alex revealed: "I always wanted a family, and I was lucky to have a lovely career and job I love alongside it, but my main ambition is hopefully to be a great mum and maybe a mum to another if we’re lucky."

She added, "I’m really happy where I am."
