When it comes to Christmas presents, we all want to make our little ones’ wildest dreams come true – but not everyone can afford to.
Christmas can cripple some couples financially, which is why one anonymous parent has called on mums and dads everywhere to try and be ‘modest’ in their spending, for the sake of fairness.
A post doing the rounds on Imgur reads: “Not all parents have a tonne of cash to spend on making their kids’ Christmas special, so it doesn’t make sense to have Santa give your kid a PlayStation4, a bike and an iPad, while his best friend at school gets a new hat and mittens from Santa. You know?”

We can absolutely see where this parent is coming from; every mum and dad wants Christmas to be magical for their own child, but the true spirit of the season can be lost among credit card receipts and ridiculously long Santa lists.
This parent has an alternative idea: “Give something small from Santa and make the more expensive presents from you. You can’t explain Santa’s discrimination to a heartbroken kid. Keep that in mind this year and always.”
The post sparked intense debate in the Imgur comment section. While some people appreciated the wisdom of the post, others have chosen to make their own minds up.
“Or…OR…I’ll tell my kid whatever I want about the gifts I give her for Christmas,” replied one parent, while another lauded the wisdom of ‘not spoiling your kids’.
