There's something very special about making the commitment to share your life with someone. Some say the excitement goes after being with the same person for a long time, but we disagree. It's doesn't go away, it just evolves into something else, something wonderful.

Here are 11 pretty great signs you’re in a long-term relationship:

1. You’re super comfortable with each other

You fart in front of each other – and you both laugh your heads off when it happens. You pee in front of each other too and are getting dangerously close to leaving that toilet door open for your number twos. Thankfully you haven’t broken that taboo… yet!

2. You wear no pants around the house

The first thing you do when you come home is shed your pants. So what if you’ve got cellulite? Ahh that’s better.

3. You’re brutally honest

You’ve no compunction telling them that yes, he has in fact put on a few pounds. Yes he has a grey hair. Yes, that is definitely the beginning of a paunch. No his new shirt is not “cool and young” it’s

trendy and tragic and makes him look like a fool. Saying that, the day he tell you your arse is big he can leave and never come back.

4. Your weekends are spent in front of the telly

You don’t feel the need to constantly ‘do things’ to show how exciting and interesting you are. That ship has sailed. Now, you’re both happy as Larry watching Netflix and eating microwave popcorn.

5. You know EVERYTHING about each other

That time he kissed his cousin when he was ten? You know about it.

6. You discuss your period regularly (and in graphic detail)

Whether or not your partner wants to know all about the ins and out of your period is irrelevant. As far as you’re concerned the heaviness of your flow, your cramps, backache and moods are essential information.

7. You don’t jump each other nearly as much

Remember those first few years when all it would take was ‘the look’ and you’d be jumping on each other like wild animals? Yeah, those days have gone. Long gone. Sure, you still enjoy sex, but you also enjoy reading Harry Potter in bed.

8. You know what the other’s thinking

You’ve become so used to this person that you can tell by their expressions and tone of voice what they’re really thinking. Which is why they’ll never be able to lie to you.

9. You can talk about ANYTHING

Nothing is off limits. Not their haemorrhoids, not your fungal nail infection, not each other’s irrational fears and wildest dreams. Kinda nice isn’t it?

10. You accept each other the way you are

You know they’re not perfect. They sure as heck know you’re not perfect. But neither of you care. You’re with each other this long because you love and accept each other, flaws and all.

11. You learn that it’s all about the little things

You realise that true love is the little things, like when they wash your underwear and hang them out to dry, or when they massage your back because you’ve had a hard day at work. Okay, you’re not going to turn down a big sweep-you-off-your-feet romantic gesture if it comes along once in a while, but you know it’s the small, everyday things that really matter.

Are you in a long-term relationship? If so have you ticked off these yet? And what else do you love about being in a long-term relationship? We'd love to hear from you!
