An 11-year old UK schoolboy who was told he would never walk again after he was hit by a car has defied doctors by taking his first steps just three months later.

After being hit a the car on the way to school Felix Barrow was placed in an induced coma. His parents Vanessa and Stuart were told he may never walk again, or worse, be left in a ‘vegetative state’.

And while he has some way to go before he fully recovers, fighter Felix has shocked doctors by taking his first steps a mere thirteen weeks after the accident.

“It's been a terrifying experience but Felix has always been perfect,” mum Vanessa told The Irish Sun.

“There are two huge things as a parent that you're terrified of happening, your child being abducted and your child being seriously hurt or ill.

“Over the last couple of months we've heard the words ‘vegetative state’ and ‘locked-in syndrome’, ‘life-limiting’ – but doctors have said Felix has completely exceeded their expectations.

“Felix has gone from strength to strength, it's been incredible to see him smiling again and walking, even just sitting up.”

Felix is a member of running, swimming and cycling clubs across Hampshire and even qualified for team GB’s under 13’s biathlon team when he was 10.

We wish the brave lad a speedy recovery and hope he's back playing the sports he loves so much in no time.
