An 11-year-old girl has been killed in a car crash on the M61 today.
The child was pronounced dead on the scene after the car she was travelling in collided with two other vehicles while travelling southbound on the M61 in Lancashire.
The young girl was in the car with a man in his 40s who is said to be in critical condition in hospital and three others who are suffering with less serious injuries.
Their car collided with another and shortly after another vehicle crashed into them.

“This was a horrendous collision in which a young girl has very sadly lost her life,” said Sgt Dave Hurst from Lancashire’s Road Policing Unit.
