Being a mum of a toddler requires a little bit of organisation and unfortunately a large sized handbag to fit in certain necessities.

Here are eight things every mum needs with them, always:

Baby wipes
Baby wipes are an essential must-have item in your bag. They come in handy for countless things such as wiping faces, cleaning sticky hands, cleaning snot off the car seat or even rubbing marker off your favourite top.

A snack
Kids always seem to get hungry at the most awkward of times – usually when you are stuck on the motorway in really heavy traffic. Unfortunately, us mums are well aware that a hungry child very quickly turns into an angry child. And an angry child equals plenty of kicks to the back of your seat. Not good. Whip out your emergency snack for these times.

Change of clothes
Toilet training can be a nightmare when you need to leave the house and spare clothes will become your saviour for little accidents. Make sure you don’t leave the house without these, otherwise things will become very, very difficult.

A toy
Going on a long journey - bring a toy. Meeting a friend for lunch - bring a toy. Going grocery shopping - bring a toy. Going to get petrol – bring a toy. Bring a toy. Bring a toy. Bring a toy.

A drink
No, not an alcoholic drink, we mean a little juice for your toddler. Just like with food, kids can get thirsty when the nearest shop is a million miles away (well not literally), so make sure you are prepared.

A phone charger
Your youngster is going to end up playing on your phone no matter how many times you tell yourself that you won’t let them, so bring a charger. There is nothing worse than having your battery go flat when you really need to make a call. It’s always when you need to call someone.

Hand sanitizer
For the park. You never know what your little one is going to end up touching on those swings. Sometimes it doesn’t even bear thinking about.

A small hand towel
A hand towel comes in handy for accidents, protecting clothes and wiping the above said swings after it’s been raining. You’ll never have to use your scarf again.
