Bedtimes can be a huge battle as some kids refuse to settle or have too much energy to be able to sleep. It is vital that kids are allowed to wind down before tucking them in for the night, so why not try some yoga before bed to help the bedtime process.

Here are a few poses that you can get your little one to do:

Volcano
Stand with your feet planted on the ground and hold your hands above your head clasped together. Slowly count to four and then jump up and down yelling and waving your arms up and down.

Squeeze out the tension
Get your little one to lie on their back and bring their knees up to their chest. Get them to bring their head forwards so their forehead is almost at their knees.  Ensure their spine is well rounded and get them to breathe in and squeeze their body. As they exhale and unravel, get them to release the tension.

Air bicycle
Get your little one to lie on their back and to move their legs in the air as if peddling a bike. Get them to peddle really fast for the count of four and then to slow down.

Wish upon a star
Get your son or daughter to lie on their back and close their eyes. To get rid of any stressful thoughts they may have get them to imagine a star is right above them and to tell the star anything that is bothering them.

Breathe
Get your youngster to lie on their back, put their hands on their stomach and breathe in through their nose and out through their mouth. Ensure they breathe slowly and count to three as they are breathing in and out.

Spaghetti test
To see if your child is sleep ready wiggle their legs and arms to see if they are relaxed. If not wiggle them a little to relieve and tension before bed.

Why not join in with your little one’s yoga time and enjoy some bonding time while having fun.
