Eileidh Paterson, from Scotland, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer that develops in nerve tissues, at the age of two.

Following a year of treatment, Eileidh had no evidence of the disease and was sent stateside to begin a clinical trial to stop the disease from returning as 60-80 per cent of neuroblastoma patients run risk of a relapse.

However, almost a year into the trial and little Eileidh was dealt a setback, as a tumour was found in her jaw.

During treatment, which she was due to finish earlier this year, the five-year-old relapsed for a second time and unfortunately chemotherapy was no longer working.

Currently, the youngster is receiving radiotherapy and the Paterson family are hopeful their tot will be eligible for a trial in London quite soon.

Nonetheless, little Eileidh is not expected to survive in the long-term, with her family doing their best to make sure their princess enjoys every second of life in the meantime.

“We want the remaining time with Eileidh to be as special as possible and allow her to experience as many things as she can. Eileidh deserves to have the world & if we can give her a fraction of that, then we will.”

The family have set up a GoFundMe page to help the five-year-old complete a bucket list of wishes she would like to complete throughout her life.

However, due to the public’s generosity the family have already completed the first thing on the list, and it was truly spectacular.

The list includes painting her bedroom pink, taking a trip to Disneyland, swimming with mermaids and taking a trip to the zoo, but it was her number one request that got us all in tears;

Eileidh’s greatest wish was to marry her best friend, six-year-old, Harrison Grier.

And both families were happy to fulfil their wish; the ceremony took place in the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre where family and friends gathered to witness the special bond.

Eileidh’s brother, Callum, stepped up to walk his little sister down the aisle to the sound of Disney’s ‘When you wish upon a star’.

Meeting at the top of the aisle and exchanging St Christopher necklaces, the couple were formally announced ‘best friends forever’ surrounded by superheroes, fairies and princesses.

The magical ceremony was then celebrated at a party by over 200 people as Eileidh’s first wish came true.

Such an inspiring story, let’s hope this little girl gets the chance to tick everything off her list.
