Calling off your wedding is definitely not an easy thing to do.

But when you've paid for everything, what happens next?

One bride-to-be was in this situation after she ended her engagement a week before the big day.

Kolbie Sanders was told that she had the chance to keep her wedding venue’s reservation for a later time but she had a better idea - she would donate the $3,500 wedding package to any couple who would be willing to get married within the week.

She posted to Facebook explaining what she was going to do.

The 24-year-old said, ''with my engagement ending, I’ve come to find tremendous peace in knowing that I did the right thing for the both of us.''

She continued, ''with that being said, now I want to do the right thing by others and let some good come out of this decision.”

The Texan student asked people to nominate couples who deserved a free wedding.

The post got a huge reaction with more than 4k shares, 2k likes and hundreds of comments.

A makeup artist, a hair stylist, and a photographer were among the services offering to help out, free of charge.

Kolbie then drew out the winning name - Haley Hipsher.

Haley's grandfather’s had been diagnosed with stage four cancer and now he would see her walk down the aisle.

Kolbie was delighted, saying, ''if there is one thing I’ve taken from this entire experience, it’s this: no matter what, always choose others even when it’s easier to choose yourself.''

She continued, ''this world keeps spinning and becomes a more beautiful place when you take the time to love on your neighbours and put their needs above yours, even if that seems like the harder thing to do.”

It shows how the power of a social media post and an act of generosity can bring such joy to someone's life.
