The culture of selfies seems to be causing people to lose track of basic health and safety.

Two young children aged five and six, watched as both their parents died in a tragic accident while sightseeing in Portugal.

The Polish family had lived in Portugal for several years, and were touring Cabo da Roca, a popular tourist destination near Lisbon. They had climbed to the top of a cliff viewing point, and were taking photographs of the views.

The couple moved a safety barrier on the top of the cliff in order to take a better picture, and both slipped and fell off the edge. Authorities have recovered two bodies from the bottom of the cliff.

The children were taken into custody by Polish officials, and are receiving psychological care until they can be reunited with family travelling to Portugal.
