Experts are calling on schools to add some new subjects to their sexual education lessons, mainly pornography and sexting.

Children’s rights charities are suggesting that children should be learning about ‘21st-century’ aspects of sexuality by including them in the sexual education curriculum.

“Children themselves, girls in particular, are telling us that they feel they need improved, age-appropriate, mandatory sex and relationships education to help them navigate these difficult issues,” said Plan International UK’s chief executive, Tanya Barron to The Guardian.

This isn’t the first time sexual health charities or educational groups have suggested the reviewed curriculum.

This has been a topic of conversation for many years and the number of people supporting the proposed change has continued to grow.

Research done by Plan International UK found that 75 percent of respondents agreed that children should be educated on pornography with only seven percent saying it should not.

"Parents are simply demanding that their children's education reflects the 21st-century reality of their lives,” Ms Barron said.
