Now this is thinking outside the box!

For parents a date night isn’t just desired, it’s necessary for survival! The importance of getting dressed up, applying some lotions and potions and going for a meal where you won’t have to A) serve it or B) wipe it repeatedly off your top / pants / face can never be underestimated.

However, finding a babysitter isn’t always easy, and even when we do leave the kids at home, we can’t help but worry about them. Parenting huh?

So one Australian indoor play centre, BASE Camp Kids, has hit on a quite frankly genius idea: a once-monthly ‘date night’ where the venue is turned into a fine dining restaurant. And the kids? Well they’re supervised nearby (and fed!) so mums and dads can breathe easy while having some alone time over a three-course meal.

“I realised that there were people who might find it hard to get babysitters or didn’t feel comfortable leaving their kids with a babysitter, but who still wanted a fine dining experience,” Lelen Kemke, the centre’s owner told Daily Mail Australia.

And while some people may associate kid’s play centres with ‘golden’ food like chips and chicken nuggets, according to Lelen Kemke, the centre’s owner, the food is not like that at all.

“We are an indoor play centre but I suppose our point of difference is that we have healthy food,” she said. “Even for children's party food it’s chicken skewers, quiches, penne bolognaise so it's not deep fried.”

“[For parents] we wanted to create a fine-dining experience, so on our menu we’ve had things like salmon, a rack of lamb, seafood paella and panna cotta for dessert.”

The date nights have become so popular that they sell out super quick, so clearly they’ve hit on something with this idea!

What do you think mums? Would you go to one of these date nights? And would you like to see something similar take off here?
