We're right behind you lady!

A mum has an important message for body shamers – to put it simply, “Eff you”.

Michelle Kirk was out running in preparation for the New York City Marathon when a man actually stopped her and told her that she needed a better sports bra because her boobs were sagging, and would only sag more if she continued running.

And while we can certainly all agree this man was obviously a giant creep, his words do reflect an attitude out there where we feel we have to apologise for our bodies if they’re less than perfect. Whether that’s not wearing a bikini because we think we’re too big, or refusing to wear shorts in summer, it’s a real issue for women every day.

So in defiance, Michelle shared a photo of herself in her running gear with the epic caption:

“To the nasty old man who stopped me mid run to inform me that I need to get a better sports bra because my boobs are sagging and will only sag more if I continue to run...f**k you. You are the reason why women have insecurities. If you don't like the way my boobs ‘sag’ when I run, then don't look! I will NEVER stop doing what I love and I love myself way to much to have your hate bring me down!”

We know it’s unlikely this man will ever see Michelle’s message, but by sharing her experience she’s empowering other people to be proud of their bodies – and giving them the heads up to think of a really good comeback if they’re ever body shamed themselves!

“One man sent me a message about how he lost a lot of weight and how reading my story helped him see himself in a new light,” Michelle told the NY Daily News. “Even if I reached out to one person, for them to see the beauty they hold, then my mission was accomplished.”

Fair play lady.
