Residents of Gastonia in North Carolina are sufficiently spooked after a cloaked figure was caught lurking around and dropping raw meat in local playgrounds.
The images, which were captured by locals earlier this month, have gone viral across social media, and while some think it might just be a silly joke, others are on edge.
While police have refused to confirm or deny the meat rumour, one frightened local told The Gaston Gazette: “I see why it could be easy to make a joke out of it, but this is serious. We live in a world today where you don’t know what’s going on and you don’t know people.”

Commenting underneath one of the eerie images on Facebook, a local wrote: “This isn’t just teenagers playing a joke in Gastonia. A woman also saw someone just like this doing the same thing two hours away in their town as well.”
The person who captured the above image said her husband watched the cloaked figure “raise its hands upwards and then down” after dropping the bag of raw meat near the apartment complex.
We sincerely hope that this is just some kind of silly prank.
