This video of one father's selfless act is melting us.
When 12-year-old Reilly and was talking to her mother, she revealed that she didn't love herself.
Because she has alopecia, Reilly hasn't had hair since she was a baby.
In a recent Love What Matters post, her mother Chelsea Sylvaria told us what happened:
"Yesterday, I was joking around with Riley and telling her everyone I love: 'I love Riley, I love Gavin, I love Grayson', etc. Riley then looked at me and went, 'Do you love yourself?' I immediately said, 'Of course I do, you always have to love yourself! Do you love yourself?' Riley responded very softly, 'No.'
I was a bit taken aback and said, 'What do you mean you don’t love yourself?' To which she uttered my worst fear, 'I don’t love myself because I don’t have hair.'"
Heartbroken, Chelsea returned home and told her husband what her daughter had said.
What he did next was phenomenal.
He took his daughter in his arms and reinforced how loved she was, by her parents and her family . He told her that not having hair does not change the fantastic person that she is.
He didn't just say it. He proved it, asking:
"Do you want Daddy to shave his head?"
Reilly nods, her little face instantly lighting up.
Shaving his head he asked her, "Will I keep it like? I can keep it like this because, do you know what, it's just hair."
"I’ll keep it just like this. You know why? Because it’s just hair, kiddo. It doesn't matter. All gone! We’ll get it nice and short just like Riley’s! Nice and bald!"
Our little hearts can't take it.
The clip has been shared over 5,000 times and viewed 65,000 times on Facebook alone, with many viewers send Reilly messages of love and support:
"We hope to raise her to be strong, confident, and loved," Chelsea said.
With such a fantastic and caring father as this, we have no doubt that Reilly will!
