There's a lot of things we don't expect to hear from our eight-year-olds but when they ask can they send a postcard to a government official, it's understandable to be slightly shocked.

But two mums were left extremely proud when their eight-year-old daughter Willa asked could she send a postcard to the United States Secretary of Education.

The U.S. Secretary for Education, Betty DeVos, was announced following the election of Donald Trump as president, nonetheless there was much uproar following Betty's appointment.

Many people feared the woman in question had little experience in dealing with public schooling, and feared what would become of the system.

One of those people was eight-year-old public school student, Willa, but she wasn't letting her fears go unnoticed.

Buying a postcard displaying artwork from the Women's March, Willa began writing, requesting compassion from the new secretary.

"I love my public school, it is the place I have been for four years, please leave our public schools alone."

"Do not tear it down ever, I love school and I love everything about it," wrote the youngster.

We hope her parents are proud, because we are so proud of this young girl standing up for what she believes in, you go Willa.
