When Jen Thelen woke to the sound of her 7-year-old daughter screaming, she immediately knew something was wrong.
Their German Shepard, Zoey, had mauled Aubrie's Elf on the Shelf, Sam.
Luckily, Thelen works as a nurse manager in Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Florida and rushed Sam straight to hospital.
She told her daughter not to worry because the hospital had “special doctors” that could fix her elf’s injuries.
In Zoey's chewing frenzy, Sam's arm had been ripped off anf he was left with holes in his face.
As any Elf on the Shelf partaker knows, the Elves cannot be touched by humans or they lose their magic.
Luckily, Santa had thought ahead and sent in magic Santa gloves for the doctor ot touch the elf without losing him magic.
The special elf doctor stitched him up and returned him to anxious Aubrie, sprinkled with a little bit of magic dust.
The hospital has since updated the post to include Sam's return home. They said:
"Sam was able to go home to Aubrie later that evening. Jenn showed her all the videos and pictures of Sam’s day at the Arnold Palmer Hospital ER. The magic of Christmas and Sam the Elf continues for Aubrie. Sam is now back on his shelf and mom will definitely make sure that he is out of Zoey’s reach."
We're so glad that Sam has made a full recovery!
