Shalee Ellis found herself faced with lots of questions when her husband came out as transgender, and the most common query was how her little girl was reacting to it.

 

So, Shalee decided to get the answer straight from the horse's mouth - and what little Layla had to say is a wonderful example of unconditional love.

 

 

Shalee filmed her daughter answering the question and uploaded the video to Facebook. 

 

"Daddy doesn't feel happy as a boy," Layla says in the heartwarming vid. 

 

"We have decided to help Daddy become the person that his brain and his heart tell him he really is." 

 

Layla is a truly inspiring little girl and completely supportive of her dad's 'transitioning.' She's all for him wearing new clothes, wearing makeup, growing long hair and changing his name to Mallory. 

 

 

"Daddy, I love you so much," the child gushes, and then adorably adds: "Even though you're a her, I still love you!"

 

Mallory shared on her Facebook page her decision to become the woman she feels she is, and asked for 'respectfulness and kindness.' 

 

And she made the very astute observation that if her six-year-old can do it, then surely others can too.

 

We're sure Mallory is a great dad and that won't change, even if the label switches to 'Mum.'
