Social media is doing all sorts for families of late. While it played a major role in reuniting an abandoned baby from the Philippines with its relatives, now it has helped to return years’ worth of priceless memories to another family.

When Mark Christini lost a bag of tape recordings of many of the significant life events from his three daughters’ early lives – first words, first steps and beyond – he was resigned to the fact that he would never see them again.

However, thanks to one thoughtful man and the Facebook community, 16 years later the unimaginable occurred.

When office worker Dan Camano discovered the bag of tapes in an unused attic in his office building, he figured that the memories on them were far too precious to let go.

Camano went on to launch a Facebook campaign to find the owners of the tapes, and it wasn’t long before Mr Christini was reunited with his family memories.

Describing his reaction when the tapes were returned to him, he said: “At first, [it was] complete surprise, and then just gratitude.”

“It’s a story of someone doing something extra special to try to help somebody out. And we’re just incredibly thankful,” he added.
