Former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite, whose marriage broke down in 2013, has recently opened up about how her divorce affected her two children.

The 44-year-old who split from her husband of seven years, Tom Ellis, in 2013, not long after the birth of the couple’s second child, admits that she doesn’t think her two kids, six-year-old Florence and Marnie who is two, were affected too much by it.

In conversation with Essentials magazine, the mum-of-two said:  "I do feel like, once you get over everything, we are not that much worse off. (He is) still their dad and they still have a relationship.”

However, proving herself to be very strong, Tamzin admits that “there's never been a time where [her] children have seen [her] weeping. We're alright. We have a brilliant support network around us”.

The New Tricks star says that while her life hasn’t quite gone as she had planned it doesn’t mean that her kids are worse off or aren’t happy. "Kids adapt. I have a colourful life. It hasn't gone the way I would have envisaged…. It doesn't mean your kids aren't happy."

It's great to hear that even through something as heartbreaking as a divorce, her children are happy.
